Joy Fest….

"Children are the hands by which we take hold of heaven."

After the success of the Ramzan project, our next item on the "to-do" list was the joy fest.
We visited an orphanage for construction worker’s kids where there were roughly about 30 kids between the ages of 3-12. We had an exquisite time, watching a little "Shah Rukh Khan" perform to the tune of "dard-e-disco"
the children there took to us in a fraction of a heart beat.
We also had arranged for a small diya painting activity and a tattoo artist was also called to add on to the fun.
biryani and gulab jamuns were arranged for their lunch.

This experience has been embossed in my memory for eternity. The smiles on the kids faces were extended from ear to ear.
We all clicked pictures with them where each one of the kids got their own 15 seconds of fame!!!
They say "The key to happiness is having dreams. The key to success is making dreams come true.” This is what we tried to accomplish at the joy fest. It couldn't get better than this!

The Ramzan Project...

Ramzan is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and indulging in anything that is in excess or ill-natured; from dawn until sunset.

We at Rotaract decided to undertake a project, where in we donate the basic necessities needed by one during this time. Two rotaractors, Rizwan Khan and I (saba.f.poonawala), undertook the initiative for this project. After the club member’s approval, we visited the priest of the masjid we chose. As per the requirements, we managed to purchase 8 kgs of rice, 7 kgs of wheat and 2 kgs of cooking oil, all of which was in great need by them.

All told the experience was truly unforgettable. The satisfaction one derives from helping another in need, in this case several individuals is exhilarating. i look forward to doing it in the future to my greatest ability.
